I spent a lot of time this past week thinking about this blog and what I want to get out of it. For now, I want it to be a place where I can share what I learn about photography, challenge myself as a photographer, and share my photographs with people other than my family & friends.
In order to share what I have learned, I've decided that I will continue to do a Top Ten Tips post, but only once per month instead of once per week. I think having a whole month to put the tips into practice will be much more beneficial. So for the remainder of April, I will continue to put into practice my Top Ten Tips for Photographing Pets and at the end of the month I will share all of the pictures I took.
In order to challenge myself and share my photographs, I will participate in photo challenges from different photography blogs I have discovered. Right now, I plan to participate in Wordless Wednesdays over on the The Naptime Momtog the weekly challenges over on The Paper Mama, and the Leap Into Spring challenge over on Project Alicia. I will also participate in the monthly photography contest over on Click it Up a Notch and share my Quarterly Top 5 Photos every 3 months over on Click. Pray. Love.
As time goes on, I might add more challenges or post more tips, but for now this seems manageable and with two kids, two dogs, a deployed husband, a house to tend to, and a cross-country move next month, I am limited on time at the moment. But photography is something I do just for me and it's a great stress relief, so I want to stay motivated!
Jumping right back in, here are all my challenge pictures for the week...oh, and let me add that my camera has been having some major AF issues, so all of the pictures I am posting (except the March favorite) were shot in manual mode with manual focus. It sure is a challenge, especially with my two quick kiddos, but when I nail a picture it's so much more rewarding knowing I did EVERYTHING on my own! Critiques are always welcome.

It was a gloomy & rainy morning, so when the clouds parted and the sun started shining again I knew I had to get the kids outside in the afternoon. Of course, life had other plans and we had to go to the grocery store! Thankfully, we made it in and out quickly and got home just in time to play outside for an hour before dinner. And lucky me, it was the golden hour!! I grabbed my camera to capture that magical spring light for the Leap Into Spring photo challenge, which was focused on Sunshine/Light this week. As I was shooting, I also knew these photos would be perfect for Wordless Wednesday. They are a true capture of what my two kids do whenever we play outside in the backyard.

love the last two and the one where she is laying on the ground playing with a truck :)
